Mounjaro (tirzepatide)

Mounjaro (active ingredient: tirzepatide) is an injectable medication approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in adults. Its efficacy in managing overweight and obesity is also being studied.

Mounjaro works as a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist, helping regulate blood sugar levels, reduce appetite, and improve insulin sensitivity. It is administered via a weekly subcutaneous injection using the pre-filled KwikPen, manufactured by Eli Lilly.

KwikPens are available in six different concentrations (2.5 mg, 5 mg, 7.5 mg, 10 mg, 12.5 mg, and 15 mg). Each pen contains 4 standard doses of 60 clicks each, totaling 240 clicks per device.

Each Mounjaro KwikPen has a fixed ratio between milligrams and clicks. Below is the equivalence for each available concentration:

• 2.5 mg pen: 0.0417 mg per click · 60 clicks = 2.5 mg · 10 mg total in pen
• 5 mg pen: 0.0833 mg per click · 60 clicks = 5 mg · 20 mg total in pen
• 7.5 mg pen: 0.125 mg per click · 60 clicks = 7.5 mg · 30 mg total in pen
• 10 mg pen: 0.1667 mg per click · 60 clicks = 10 mg · 40 mg total in pen
• 12.5 mg pen: 0.2083 mg per click · 60 clicks = 12.5 mg · 50 mg total in pen
• 15 mg pen: 0.25 mg per click · 60 clicks = 15 mg · 60 mg total in pen
